Margaret Emelyn Gragg was born on July 22, 1909 in Centralia, Illinois, and moved to Colorado Springs with her parents about 1915. She attended Garfield Elementary School, Colorado Springs High School, Colorado College and the Denver University School of Librarianship, and was married N. Stanley Reid. Margaret served as head librarian of the Pikes Peak Library District from 1949 until her retirement in 1974, introducing the Western History Department, microfilming of newspapers and the Oral History Project. Before joining the Pikes Peak Library staff she served at Deering Library at Northwestern University, the U.S. Army War College Library and the Air Sea Rescue Agency in Washington, D.C. She died in 1979.
