Collection NumberMSS 0320DescriptionWilbur "Woody" Shantz was born in Colorado Springs on May 3, 1921 and served in WWII as a tail gunner on a B-17 with the 8th Air Force in England. The son of noted free-lance commercial artist and cartoonist Fred Shantz, Wilbur was employed by Alexander Film Company and became Art Director. He also worked at the Gazette Telegraph newspaper as Advertising Art Director and won many awards, among them were the Best Advertisement in the State of Colorado and the Best International Advertising Award in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He died in Colorado Springs on May 10, 2015.
